ENA(Emergency Nutrition Assessment) for SMART Training Course

Emergency Nutrition Assessment(ENA) for Standardised Monitoring and Assessment of Relief Transitions(SMART)

Introduction

Data collection has always been an integral part of development work. In the past, this task was performed with paper and pen, which made it prone to error, difficult to conduct on a large scale, and high in transaction costs.

ICT tools and software that allow users to create surveys, collect and manage data have reduced the conventional challenges associated with traditional data collection methods.

ENA (Emergency Nutrition Assessment) software is a user-friendly analytical program recommended by SMART (Standardised Monitoring and Assessment of Relief Transitions). It has automated functions for sample size calculations, sample selection, quality checks, standardization for anthropometry measurements, and report generation with automatic analyses. ENA is highly favoured by field practitioners; it facilitates survey planning, data collection, analysis and reporting with the ability to generate automatic standard tables and graphs for anthropometric indices and plausibility check reports.

Standardized Monitoring and Assessment of Relief and Transitions (SMART) is a survey methodology that was developed to improve the quality of anthropometric and mortality survey data collected in humanitarian and development contexts (however, SMART has been increasingly used in developmental settings). The aim of SMART is to assist decision-makers to carry out, analyze, interpret, and report on survey findings in a standardized manner while maintaining the reliability of the data.

The purpose of ENA for SMART is to make nutrition assessments and mortality rate calculations in emergency situations as easy and reliable as possible. To achieve this it focuses on the most important indicators (anthropometric and mortality data), checks the plausibility of the entered data and gives out an automatic report.

If you have always wanted to learn how to collect, manage and analyze anthropometric and mortality data, this training course is for you.

Duration

5 Days

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This training course is suitable for anyone who is interested in learning how to:

  • Collect and analyse data from mortality and nutrition surveys:
  • Generate anthropometric scores
  • Perform automated analyses of anthropometry and mortality data,
  • Perform data quality checks
  • Generate report templates with populated data tables.
